Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. Kitsap County Criminal History does not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may receive routine technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is available
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Kitsap County Criminal History does not build, store, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its content explains how to reach the Kitsap County Sheriff, the courts, the Washington State Patrol repository, and the Washington Sex Offender Public Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a third-party record or consumer report, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies run the search tools embedded on some pages. Their privacy terms, retention periods, and sharing rules govern any query sent to them. Review the provider's policy before entering information because this policy does not control the provider's systems.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to court portals, sheriff pages, state agencies, legal-aid resources, or commercial search services. Once a visitor follows one, the destination's privacy policy applies. Check it before submitting personal details.
Advertising providers may also use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. Their tracking practices are outside our control.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies responding to a valid legal order
- Advertising networks that serve material on these pages
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and site performance
- Search providers processing queries submitted through their tools
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet system is completely secure, however, so uninterrupted protection or freedom from every breach cannot be guaranteed.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such information is identified, a deletion request may be made.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary by residence and applicable law. Washington's Public Records Act, chapter 42.56 RCW, governs public-agency records, while chapter 10.97 RCW addresses criminal-history privacy and dissemination. Neither statute turns this private site into a public records custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Opt out of processing where that choice is legally required
- Request deletion of eligible personal data
- Ask to correct inaccurate personal information
- Request access to personal data held about them
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices or legal duties change. A revised version becomes available here with its new effective date.
